Brian Lord OBE

Managing Director- Cyber, PGI

 

Brian is PGI Cyber’s Managing Director, who previously served as GCHQ’s Deputy Director for Cyber and Intelligence Operations.   At GCHQ, he personally oversaw a tradecraft skill change programme to GCHQ’s entire civilian and military workforce, while also ensuring  the wider growth and perpetual evolution of departmental technical capability against emerging threats. He planned and ran both defensive and active Cyber operations, applied through unparalleled experience of cyber threat, risks, opportunity, and effective mitigation strategies. He culminated his career at GCHQ as an eminent thought leader on the subject of cyber warfare and on the intent and motivations of the breadth of cyber threat actors. Brian also held overall Senior Civil Service responsibility for the cross-governmental development, capability building, and requirement setting for the active defence and offensive Cyber capability. His experience extends to both the design and participation in cross-government National Security operations and exercises. Since moving to PGI, Brian has designed and delivered PGI’s Cyber full spectrum provision of Cyber Security advice, technical service delivery and organisational transformation and skill development to public and private sector organisations.  He has led the growth of relationships with government and industry professional bodies, as well as the relationship with Academia. Brian is regularly enlisted by the BBC and other national media outlets as a specialist spokesman on Cyber matters.
