Andy Cole CBE
Ex Director of Specialist Investigations at HMRC

 

Andy joined the Civil Service in 1975. In 2012 Andy was appointed as the Director of Specialist Investigations at HMRC, with responsibility for approximately 1700 Investigation specialists, Technicians, Accountants and Insolvency experts based at 60 locations across the UK tackling fraud, avoidance and criminal attacks on Excise Regimes including civil asset proceedings. Andy also had a specific portfolio responsibility for HMRC’s offshore compliance strategy having led the negotiations on the Liechtenstein Disclosure Facility and other international agreements.

Andy’s achievements were recognised in the Queen’s 2011 New Years Honours list when he was awarded a CBE. Andy retired from HMRC on 31 October 2015 after more than 40 years public service and is now an independent tax consultant.
